With Google Wallet struggling to take off in the face of limited handset support, strong competition (I, II, III), and carrier intransigence, Google (GOOG) is reportedly thinking of sharing revenue with the likes of AT&T and Verizon via promotions, in order to kick-start demand. Sprint (S) remains committed to Google Wallet, and says it will introduce as many as 12 new phones this year supporting the mobile payment platform.

  • Well, to be honest, Google shot themselves in the foot about a month ago when they sold their share of Clearwire at a multi-billion dollar lose.

They has all of the spectrum they needed to make the wallet work, but now the are SOL and no money in the wallet. They talk about the carriers inability to be flexible with adding Google wallet to smart phones. But they hand the ability to control the mobile payment platform with Clearwire. Now, it's just a distant memory!

  • Nice way to say thanks to Sprint by driving truck load of cash to their competitiors Verizon and ATT who have no shortage of money by feeding offf their helpless customers. If they pay Verizon and ATT..they should as well pay sprint.
