Though Apple and Google's TV efforts receive more headlines (I, II), Microsoft (MSFT) is quietly "winning the war for the living room," says Matt Rosoff, following Redmond's latest Xbox content deals. Microsoft now has over 40M Xbox Live users, and a company exec claims over half of the 84 hours/month the average Live user spends on the service involves watching video and listening to music.

  • I can use some tech help here . What I am understanding is the MSFTs buy of SKYPE is really giving them a great ability to stream an it will tie the cloud t/v issues better than all others an that is AAPLs bug that Mr Jobs went to his grave having not finished.

I was long MSFT at 23.50 an sold at 29.. And I''m long AAPL;NOK and
S/ CLWR.......But, would buy MSFT back if/when the market pulls back !

  • There is no real skype integration in kinect for xbox (though they claim to be working on it and everyone seems to be waiting for windows 8 for this to happen). Microsoft is just ahead in content deals (Fios, Xfinity, ESPN, Hulu, Netflix, etc). None of these are really exclusive to xbox, but the build out is already there. The question is whether next generation consoles (2013 or 2014) with improved kinect features and media integration will be adopted by casual gamers because by then there will probably be an offering from Apple for an integrated tv set (probably for $1500+).
