Bags don't fly free: Allegiant Travel (ALGT +2.3%) ups the ante on charging passengers fees with a new policy tagging customers with a $35 hit for carry-on bags requiring overhead bin space due to their size. The move could set off a chain reaction among major carriers - not entirely satisfied with the record $32.5B haul the industry took in for ancillary fees last year.

That's okay... cheapos who choose Allegiant deserve to be shafted. Just like those who choose Spirit Air in order to save $10 but end up paying $100 extra in fees.

Southwest doesn't have the lowest fares, but at least they're very transparent and don't trap you left and right.

Next will be a fee for using the washroom while inflight. It's time for the governments to step in and put a stop to this blatant gouging of the consumer.
