"The worst part has got to be over," says Wilbur Ross of natural gas, conceding his purchase of Exco (XCO) was a bit early. "(It) doesn't give cancer... very cheap per Btu... and is less pollutive than oil or coal." Not only will it become a bigger portion of domestic energy supply, but the export possibilities are outstanding.

  • I wouldn't bet the worst is over. How about $1.50 for nat gas?

There are a lot of good things that could be done with nat gas, it's just there not being enough done and not fast enough to put a noticeable dent in the oversupply.

  • You know what I hate about natural gas? With National Grid, the cost to deliver the gas is more than three times the cost of the gas. It's like buying a $1500 couch and paying $4600 to have it delivered. The lower the price of nat gas, the higher the multiplier gets. If nat gas goes to $1.00 the delivery costs will grow to 10 times the cost of the gas. When I heated with oil, when the wholesale price per gallon was at $3.00 I would pay the oil company for the oil and the delivery about $4.00 per gallon. I guess it's cheaper to truck in oil than it is to send nat gas through a pipe that has been in the ground for 30 years.
