Sterne Agee's Shaw Wu breaks down the value of Research In Motion's (RIMM +3.3%) various pieces, and sees “intrinsic value" in RIM but isn't sure "if a price of over $7B makes sense.” He sees a valuation range of $5B-$7B, for a stock price of $9.50-$13.50; current market cap is ~$6.6B. RIM’s patents might not be all that valuable, Wu contends.

  • Glad Shaw Wu likes it at this price. Not a lot of downside risk at this price. Wu Woo!

  • Shaw Wu has been a RIM basher forever. He is clueless, and if he thinks RIM is worth less than $7B, then you can be sure it is worth at least 4 times that, probably more. This guy has no clue whatsoever.

  • If RIMM is fairly valued at these ridiculous prices then Apple and Google should be 50% less, RIMM sells as good and even better products as any of their competitors. RIMM shares are worth many times whatever your guesses are,Mr.Wu.
