Monday, April 16, 2012, 11:25 AM ETBroadcom (BRCM) is taking baseband chip share from Qualcomm (QCOM) with Samsung, reports FBR, as Broadcom's cheaper solutions help Samsung, which has been gaining smartphone share, sell low-end Android phones. FBR thinks Broadcom could supply the baseband for 60M-80M Samsung smartphones in 2012, and also some feature phones. On the flip side, Jefferies thinks Cavium (CAVM) is taking share from Broadcom's just-acquired NetLogic unit in the switch/router processor market.
