Tuesday, April 24, 2012, 5:53 PM ETApple states on its FQ2 earnings call (webcast, live blog) its conservative FQ3 guidance was partly due to a 2.6M Q/Q increase in iPhone channel inventory. Its strong FQ2 gross margin is attributed to lower commodity costs (i.e. cheaper flash memory) and product mix (more iPhones). Tim Cook adds Apple won't follow Microsoft's (MSFT) lead in offering "converged" PC/tablet devices. iTunes revenue was $1.9B, +35% Y/Y. China revenue rose over 3x to $7.9B. AAPL +7.1% AH.

I am too interested in some products that Apple does not yet offer - a very large iPad - something like a 27 inch screen - useful to view multiple clinical images (brain MRI, orbital MRI, multiple other clinical investigational studies, EMR... all at once in once very large multi-windowed environment)....
A smaller iPad might get my interest, but if it's just running iOS instead of OS X, then I don't find it that interesting. I would hope a tablet can offer more than a smartphone than having a larger display.
LG are upping the game in televisions with some new display technology. It' a really cut-throat business. I hope Apple doesn't try to introduce a television, because I just don't see the volume. The existing Apple TV already addresses that market quite well.
The day for an iPad or a MBP with super "battery" life is probably not too far off.... maybe in the next 2-3 years.
