  • Having a network which includes Europe from the east coast might be a problem. This is one of American's weak chinks in its armor. Besides JFK, there are only a few flights out of MIA to Europe on American. None...... in the Washington DC metro area which just happens to include the richest demographics in the country. They basically lose the entire travel market for Europe, south of Newark. Then again, AA believes there is no market to lose, since there is no market for aviation south of New York , according to its former CEO. AA is also sitting on all kinds of routes it doesn't use. It has not wanted to spend money to make money for years now, basically taking the spend less, make more approach. What a shame. Maybe the guys at USAIR can provide an elixar that will cure AA's skewed view of the world. NOt sure how extensive their route structure is for Europe, but with consolidation and management that knows what its doing, perhaps the merging of these two companies might save American. On its own, its toast!!
