    The era of cheap coal is over: New coal reserves needed to meet demand are increasingly located in remote basins, far from transport infrastructure such as railways and ports. It means new coal production won’t be cheap, and thus won’t come to market unless miners believe prices will be high enough to ensure a return on the billions of dollars needed to fund projects.
