Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner lashes out at Mitt Romney's comments that he will improve U.S. trade relations with China by declaring the emerging giant a currency manipulator: "By just calling them a name? Like you can solve problems in the world, a very complicated world we live in, by calling people names?"

  • Solve problems in the world??? What does Timothy Geithner know about solving problems?

  • He has shown a serious talent for creating them. His tenure at NY Fed helped create a lot of our current problems. He never saw a derivative he didn't like, especially if Jamie or Lloyd took him out on the town.

  • Geithner is a business lightweight compared to future President Romney. This is all he's got to bang on Romney about?. Everyone knows it's a lot more complicated than this stupid soundbite. Geithner has lost all credibility, a Treasury Secretary that cheats on his taxes and then blames Turbo Tax? It's always the other guys fault with this administration. Grow a pair Timmy, because your BS is getting old.

  • HI Hoe:

Please explain, precisely, why did Gov. Romney have a Caiman Islands and Swiss bank account? Tax fraud? There is not a legitimate excuse, that is, if he was paying taxes. Hell, he only paid 18% last year on 20+ mill. Poor guy. If the discredited concept of "trickle down" was valid, we should be in heaven because taxes are
lower under Obama and he has actually created jobs and brought the economy back from the brink of disaster, even Republicans admit that.

When you figure out that puzzle, slam someone who paid their taxes as dictated by their tax preparer. Until then shut the f......up or get educated. Please.

Obama, Bernanke, Paulson and Bush kept this country from spiraling out of control. If you don't believe me, just do some research- start with congressional testimonies. Until then, please stifle yourself until you become educated.

  • Geithner sounds like a school-boy crying about bullying.
Mitt Romney is an adult with a point of view. Just because it doesn't work for Mr. Geithner doesn't mean there is anything wrong with name calling.

Go back to the Reagan Presidency and see how many times he and Gorbachev traded barbs.

  • It's utterly sad when you have to contemplate which one will do the least amount of damage to the USA. I see neither one pointing the country in the right direction. Obama = trillions more debt and dollar dilution. Romney = more corporate handouts and lax regulation.

  • If i was Geithner, i would thank my lucky stars that the printing press has not, so far, run out of ink on his watch.

On the other hand, the chances of Romney getting elected are slim and none. But why bother to engage someone and give even a hint of credibility to his rantings?

OB should tell Geithner to can it. This isn't an election they have to win; it's one which they don't want to lose.

Evidently so timmy, after all, y'all keep calling our president's chief bundler "Honorable" don't you?

I'll be voting RP this November even if that means our current situation continues. My thought is that after 4 more years of this mayhem anyone that's left standing will have to recognize the absolute need to revolt.

    jmho.

You will love the Ryan budget. Tax cuts for the rich, more defense waste and elimination of the rest of the budget.......... while, not balancing the budget for another 19 years, per plan.

You are sick. There will be a revolt and that is why the are running from the budget they just passed.

  • Considering that currently China basically is the cornerstone of the US economic growth - as a marketplace and as a HUGE bond purchaser - I'd be very careful calling out China out on anything. The downside risk to any President calling one of our biggest trading partners a "b*tch" at this point could be economic suicide and frankly serves no point other then making Romney feel good. Is China going to change anything they do? No. Therefore, what's the point other then to p*ss them off?

One other thing --- I'm not political, but the fact that Romney is a businessman & rich means absolutely nothing to me. I know a lot of rich people. I know a lot of people who have created their own businesses. Those two acts do not necessarily translate into intelligence.

  • Romney will take massive loans, fire Americans, and declare without any foundation that country is prosperous again, just as he did with all the companies that he bought with money from his wealthy patrons.

We all know what happened last time a Harvard MBA was the President. This time it will be worse, for Romney is the ultimate corporate creature, without an iota of humanity and without any soul.
