    Target's (TGT) decision to stop selling Kindles was due to its unhappiness with being a mere showroom for Amazon's (AMZN) site, suggests the NYT. The decision comes months after Amazon's Price Check app, which encourages the showroom phenomenon, triggered a strong backlash. Piper's Gene Munster thinks Wal-Mart (WMT) is a far more important partner to Amazon than Target, given its higher store count and stronger rural presence.

    Also note that Wal-Mart is now an important seller of low-end Apple stuff: iPad 2, Touch, Nano, Shuffle among others. In fact, I bought my iPad 2 there a couple of days ago, and notice that in th case of the iPods there was a small discount over Apple. At $399 the basic iPad 2 that comes with the identical operating system to the iPad New is a steal.

    Gotta think Walmart is next to drop them - why would a retailer support Amazons pricecheckapp program that attempts to steal business away from them ?
