The number of U.S. homes subscribing to a pay-TV service fell by an estimated 1.5M in 2011, as subscriber gains of 1.1M and 280K from telco and satellite providers, respectively, failed to offset the loss of 2.9M cable subs. Nielsen also claims the amount of time U.S. consumers spent on game consoles rose 30% Y/Y in spite of mobile/social competition - Xbox (MSFT) media usage is likely playing a big role.
