Wednesday, May 9, 2012, 9:43 AM ETThe much-rumored 7" iPad (AAPL) will be manufactured by Foxconn (HNHAF.PK) and launch in August, claim Digitimes' sources. The occasionally-accurate site also reports the next iPhone will launch in September, and a new 10" iPad will arrive in Q4 - the latter assertion is eyebrow-raising, given Apple's history of Q1 iPad launches.

I wonder if a new 7 to 8 inch size could be positioned as an addition to the iPod Touch line.
Go AAPL!
It is just business and I think it makes perfect sense. It is like offering the shuffle when you think- why not get a Nano.
I use MS laptop and Andorid cell phone for both personal and business purposes. I have given some thoughts about getting a tablet computer. So far, I have not been able to convince myself that I really need to have one. From observation of relatives and friends who have tablets, it looks to be more of a toy to most of them. I am considering upgrading to Samsung Note.
If I am to get a tablet, it would most probably be Blackberry Playbook (price and capability consideration), or Lenovo Ideapad Yoga (versatility and compatibility with current computers) if I decide to wait until the end of the year.
Apple is caviar PC's are cabbage.
MS laptops serve my needs and pupposes. I have three right now, one running XP, one Vista and one Window 7. The oldest is more than 7 years old now. All three still running strong. I usually bought near the top end. As for operation stability, I could count the number of times they froze/crash on one hand. These happened when I had too many programs or windows opened. I run anti-virus software in the background. So I never had any problem with viruses.
By the way, one of my children's Mac laptop died after 2 years. According to the serviceman, the mother board died. I bought her another Mac laptop.
From what I have read in magazines, equivalently equipped Mac or MS laptop essentially performed similarly. Both systems can be sport cars if they are built to be sport cars. I preferred MS because I can get the sport car at a discount. Basically, to each his own.
In my office at a major international company, we ran both XP and Window 7 computers. We do intensive computation work. They serve us well. The XP computers still chugging along even they are some 5 years old now.
I am forced to use an XP laptop for work. Yes it still works but the amount of time in lost productivity waiting for the thing to boot up, boot down and open files is mind boggling.
You clearly are set in your own ways but in considering a tablet you will need to decide what you want to use it for first and then pick one. I use my tablet as digital paper meaning note taking annotation of docs, reviewing presentations, browsing, magazines and occasionally tv. That means a tablet with a good size and high resolution works is critical.
Foxconn's new facility in N. China will be in full produciton next month so they can catch up with the back-to-school season.
r u ready to bite the bullet?
I know Jobs was against this 7" tablet but I think Apple could do well with a 7" tablet.
