Hewlett Packard (HPQ) has decided to re-enter the tablet market, this time taking advantage of Microsoft's (MSFT) forthcoming Windows 8 platform in a fresh attempt to make a stronger impact. The firm had suspended its touchPad WebOS tablet production line last year due to poor sales.

  • Would be a tad more impressive if not for HPs recent, redacted efforts to dump the consumer PC business.

  • Good news for Microsoft; perhaps they ought to donate to HP some "pro bono" technical advice as to how to make HP's new plan work.

  • I am a retired lawyer, but I occupy my time researching dividend common stocks. I buy and hold but sell if the fundamentals deteriorate or the dividend is cut. I own Microsoft and am watching it closely for I believe it has great growth potential and a handsome dividend.

  • Game changer as would the much rumored 7 inch $200 - 250 iPad. The game changes almost as quickly as politicians forget their pledges. When HP plotted to get out of the consumer PC business, I decided to look elsewhere for a personal and company PC hardware. I continue to feel HP wants out of consumer, commodity computer sales and suspect the public (helped by an army of blog site pundits) will be frequently reminded of the HP touchPad debacle.

  • I have been a patient Microsoft owner for a long time and am very happy to see all of the positive things they are doing to build a platform of growth into the future. I recently bought more. I expect it to be profitable and not require the patience of the past.
