  • This is a great opportunity. As the markets turn lower you can get more GE shares with your money. That means more annual dividends and an even higher special dividend. I say buy GE now before all the bears get long this stock for the dividends.

  • How does a GE common stock shareholder translate this news into an estimate of an increase in common stock dividend, or an estimate of an increase in the price of a common stock share.

  • How about them paying money to the taxpayers for backstopping them and feeding off TARP? By the way GE capital is now making money by skirting usery laws by loaning through pawn shops. This division remains as shady and immoral as ever.

Now they no longer need to loan to GE's customers in order to help GE get a sales and kill competitors without hurting their parent's bottom line. They found another scummy way to make money.

  • So we should make some of it back with our retirement money. If they are willing to give it back, take some.

  • Me/idiot using REALLY ROUND numbers...

    6B new money in 2012
    10.6B float
    $0.56/share
    2.9%

The stock is up 4% now.

Can you imagine GE with a 6% dividend?

    I can't either.

So the PPS will have to soar to flatten out that yield.

  • Without a doubt they'll use part of the special one time payment to repurchase shares. My guess is that the quarterly dividend will increase $.02 to $.04 due to this development.

  • The time is now to raise the dividend. We have been waiting for too long.

  • I'm worried about the payout ratio getting too high. It's already above 50%. If they return to historical dividend highs then the payout would be too high. They should really take their time until the business gets back to its 2006 earnings and revenues

  • Id like to see them repurchase shares and raise the dividend only moderately.
