An ITC administrative law judge rules against Eastman Kodak (EKDKQ.PK) in its patent infringement suit against Apple (AAPL) and Research in Motion (RIMM). The ruling (.pdf), subject to review by the commission, declares Apple and RIM to be infringing only one claim within Kodak's image-preview patent, and calls that claim invalid due to "obviousness." • Perhaps this judgement led to some of the share appreciation today? though I am unaware when the judgement was officially handed down.

  • I think the share appreciation was a direct result as the share price changed happened within 30 minutes of the initial PR. I'd say Kodak's hope for a cool billion is in jeopardy and the 1,100 patents may have lost half their value today.

Maybe Kodak will have good film sales this Q, on the up side they are in Bankruptcy so I doubt this will mean much other than 0 for the shareholders becoming even more of a possibility.

Kodak did close at over $50 Million in market cap though so they are still in 8 figure land... for now.

  • Maybe that will enable apple to upgrade its plug-in for G4 giff files. If you tried to view patent image files on USPTO's data base, you would appreiciate it.
