"I would say most people would say this [TV sets] is not an area in their life that they're pleased with," says Tim Cook at the D10 conference (live blog), stoking growing expectations of an Apple (AAPL) set. Also: Cook talks down the idea of Apple being a content owner, carrier, or home console provider; says Apple isn't considering any major acquisitions (but doesn't rule them out); hints at a future Facebook (FB) partnership; and claims Apple is "doubling down" on Siri.

  • "Doubling down" on Siri is intriguing. Siri has a great AI engine and tons of untapped potential uses.

  • If Apple TV (or control box) lets my wife select programs by name, using SIRI, instead of trying to remember channel numbers, I will buy one.
