    According to the Fed, the largest 19 bank holding companies would have a $50B capital shortfall had the Basel III capital buffer rules proposed today be in effect immediately.

  • Considering that a good chunk of those bank assets is probably faerie dust and wishful thinking, I'd bet the shortfall would be a lot bigger than that. Good thing we took care of the banking crisis years ago in this country, or we'd have to worry about this stuff.
