IMO, the reason why emerging markets are off, esp. in light of price vs historical ratios and the amazing sell off last year, is noted well in this article - there has been a concerted effort by money managers to sell. Interesting. Seems that the money managers, even as they deny the long term strengths of EMs vs developed world (no comparison), must have other reasons for selloff? I suspect that they want investors out of EMs and putting money back into the developed world to prevent economic collapse from the weight of our massive and excessive debt and public spending. There is no other logical reason, since EM growth rates, albeit slowing for the better to avoid inflation, are still out of the park better than ours.

Markets ultimately call winners and losers and if you follow the money managers and central bankers, you will miss out on the only game in town for the long haul.

At least one fund manager, Pimco's Robert Arnott, has been steadily building a position in Emerging Markets local bonds, currencies, and equities in the Pimco All Asset All Authority Fund. He expects a secular decrease in the U.S. dollar index and "horrible" inflation ahead that will be very detrimental to developed countries bonds and stocks. Arnott is also building a long-term position in commodities. PAUIX or PAUDX.
