    Online ad rivals Google (GOOG), Facebook (FB), Twitter, and AOL join forces to create the Ads Integrity Alliance, which seeks to curtail the number of ads "that deliver malware, direct users to scams, or try to sell counterfeit goods" on the companies' sites. Aside from their stated goal of increasing trust, the companies could have a regulatory incentive to engage in self-policing, given how Google has run afoul of regulators for the ads shown on its site.

  • This is extremely important. Safe users weren't able to get into TheStreet.com for most of last Friday (if memory serves) because of malware contained in an ad that was run on the site.
