    Salesforce.com (CRM) is on the verge of becoming the world's top CRM software vendor, if IDC's estimates are right. The firm believes Salesforce had a 9.5% share of the CRM market in 2011, compared with 11% for Oracle (ORCL) and 9.9% for SAP. Given Salesforce is growing much faster than the 11.2% rate IDC believes the entire CRM market grew at in 2011, taking the top spot is likely just a matter of time. Oracle has made a string of acquisitions (I, II) to better compete with Salesforce.

    Gartner puts SAP as the number 1 leader in CRM and I think Oracle as 2nd so this puts them at odds with IDC.....plus, if you take SFDC last publicly available data about the number of users it has and total number of customers the average deployed number of users was 19 hardly anything to write home about.

    Finally, in my view you are not successfully executing a CRM strategy unless you have have brought both the front and back offices togeather around the customer - reality is CRM is primarily about SFA and if you dig below the hype you will find a very little substance interms them being able to help truly transform global companies ability to serve their customers.
