Ford (F) defends its MyFord Touch infotainment system after the latest round of customer satisfaction rankings from J.D. Power place the automaker low on the list largely due to confusion over the tech system. The company maintains that a majority of Ford owners recommend MyFord Touch and has no plans to move away from the platform.

  • Still trying to make a good quality car. All these years and still near the bottom. The quality of the car is directly related to the quality of the union workers. Explains a lot about out sourcing and sales.

  • Translation: We spent a boatload of cash co-developing this goddam Microsoft operating system, and by gawd, come hell or high water, we'll find a way to make it work.

  • Tdot, you said "we". Are you employed by Ford? I miss our occasional banter back and forth.... ;-)

  • "Translation" refers to what Ford was saying between the lines. Probably everyone gets that but you.

  • Ford ran from this whenever I called for service on my SYNC, they scammed the remedy and finally made an attempt to solution a year later after I bought my Escape. Ford deserves whatever they get in negative press and mu dealer, Suburban Ford, in Sterling Heights, Michigan. What a clueless bunch they have working there.

  • Ford ran from this on my SYNC, I called for service at the clueless dealership, Suburban Ford in Sterling Heights, Michigan; and as well at the SYNC Customer Service number. They spun big time on this until they attempted a solution in April of this year, a full year after they sold me the system. Ford and Jim Elder at Suburban really deserve any negative accolades they receive on this.

  • Don't disparage Ford's quality if you don't drive one. Since 1998, I have bought 7 new ones, and kept them until the warranty ran out, then traded. Only 1 of the 7 was ever back to the dealer for warranty work, and that was for a minor brake issue. Now, as to the mytouch system, it is very difficult to learn, but very handy once you master it. They could have done better, and probably should scrap it and start over.

  • Don't disparage Ford's quality if you don't drive one???? I guess those who got defective pacemakers should be the only ones who should complain - if they can..... Come on, it's about time Ford and the Union started taking quality seriously. They're near the bottom again in the Consumer Reports survey which comes from Ford owners.

Yet these union people wrap themselves up in a flag and demand people buy "American" while they're shopping at Walmart buying everything made in China.

  • The SYNC works fine on all thre of the Fushions in our family. I think it is a great. Two of the cars are 2009 one 2012. For people who are not in this century the systems are too much for them. They need a 1960 Falcon.

  • You're really convincing dcclark. You can't even spell fusion and you say that you have "thre" of them. I'm thinking you don't push the limits.

  • I love my 2006 Escape. However, I would not use an app with so much difficulty of operation. Not all of us are born technicians. SYMPLIFY

  • This is another reason to take 'quality' reports with a HUGE grain of salt. Getting nicked so seriously for user interface issues, customer training, etc on a infotainment system? It sounds like there must have been actual 'quality' issues with some units too (but thanks to the way JD Power reports, it is impossible to separate the two), however this is small potatoes compared to the major componentry of a car - engine, transmission, and so on...

  • I agree with you zag. I've owned quite a few Fords and Lincolns. I do like the quality of the car, but I do also agree the Sync and MyTouch are full of bugs, not just hard to use ... I think most of the features aren't difficult, but some of them have weird bugs. I also have a BMW M5, which I love but the navigation system on the Bmer is more difficult to operate.

  • I drive nothing but Fords and feel the need to disparage them nevertheless (or as a result).

I'm confused and I intend to stay that way.

  • Love Ford but Sync on my wife's Fiesta is a pain in the rear. Using Siri and Pandora. Ford made a serious strategic error going with Msoft on this and needs to either fix what they've got or move to another platform. Apple would be best.
