    Sony (SNE) says it will invest ¥80B ($994M) through March 2014 to increase its image sensor production capacity, in order to address growing smartphone and tablet demand. The investment will be focused on the production of stacked CMOS sensors, which Sony claims offer size and image quality improvements over traditional solutions. Top image sensor rival OmniVision (OVTI -2.6%) appears to be selling off on the news.
