Friday, June 22, 2012, 4:04 PM ETGoogle (GOOG) will likely launch a cloud infrastructure platform at next week's Google I/O conference, sources tells GigaOm. It's suggested the service will compete more with Microsoft's (MSFT) Azure than Amazon Web Services (AMZN) - the latter is wildly popular with Internet companies, but the former has more of an enterprise/app development focus. Rackspace (RAX) and its OpenStack platform also stands to be in Google's crosshairs. Google is late to the game, but there's plenty of growth left.
