Facebook (FB) has added COO Sheryl Sandberg, widely considered to be the second-most-powerful person at the company, to its board of directors. Sandberg's appointment follows reports Facebook is looking to add more board members, including at least one woman.

Sheryl has a GREAT track record at (FB) gave
a super Harvard commencement address. Way
better than Andrea Jung on the board of Apple.
The logical choice we think. Buying in August
after lock up.

Can anyone explain the significance of this? if she is already COO, she has enough of an influence in how the company will operate, no? will becoming a BOD really change what she does?
