A Bloomberg column discusses the challenge posed to daily deals providers by the adoption of "loyalty cards" (i.e. rewards programs tied to existing credit cards). American Express already has partnerships in this space with Zynga and Twitter, and many startups are partnering with retail chains to create rewards networks. However, Groupon (GRPN) and LivingSocial have responded by offering loyalty programs of their own.
