Wednesday, June 27, 2012, 8:14 AM ETNokia (NOK +1.85%) CEO Stephen Elop rejects speculation that Microsoft (MSFT) is planning to make its own smartphone, telling Finish newspaper Kaleva that the U.S. company has "made a clear decision with Nokia." Perhaps more convincing is a denial from Microsoft exec. Greg Sullivan in an interview with Information Week.

Elop is a failure if he can't even tell his shareholders exactly WHEN Nokia will release a Windows 8 smartphone.
...and forget about a Nokia Windows 8 tablet, for goodness sakes.
By the time Nokia gets around to releasing this hardware the stock price will be -$5.00 (Don't worry...Nokia will find a way to get to a negative stock price) ;)
Nokia is creating iPhone / iPad killers, they are not going to launch them half finished (unlike Apple) because of a some stupid due date. They launch them, when they are ready to take over the world.
The highest quality tablet in the world, Nokia Windows 8 tablet is all I wait for, there's no need for Apple toys after that.
Don't worry, the stock will begin to rise after Q2 results, and will be at least doubled by the end of Q4.
It's not going to be nuclear engineering to replace Qualcomm chips and higher resolution screens but will take some effort to fit in MicroSD. Nokai WP8 devices will be out when WP8 ships.
Please point out EXACTLY where Nokia is outselling Apple.
iPad and iPhone "killers"??
Is that a joke?
The highest quality tablet in the world?
You mean the tablet that doesn't actually exist but only in the mind of an underwater Nokia investor??
I've been hearing you Nokia fraudster-hypesters claim "just wait until next quarter" and "this is the bottom" for so long that I feel you guys should be good friends with Madoff.
If Nokia can't even produce a date for releasing these so-called "iPad and iPhone killers" then I doubt they can produce the product itself.
I hope the people you guys have suckered into losing their money in Nokia haven't lost too much of their children's college fund or their own retirement money.
For shame...for shame.
Once that is released on W8 Software, the game has been changed!
"I guess you are smarter than the global stock market."
Tell me excactly why are you writing in here? Isn't one of the key points to try to find totally undervalued companies with huge potential? What's the point of writing about company which value has already been taken care of in the stock price?

Russia? India?

Pretty soon it'll be also China (I did not count phones from all priceranges here, since Nokia is of course number 1 in this case).
However, Windows Phone already beated iOs in sales in China, it won't take long, when we can say it's Nokia which is outselling Apple (since Nokia had already in January 45% share of the 2nd generation Windows Phones, and this was way before launch of Lumia 610/Lumia 800C/Lumia 900).
According to a recent smartphone forecast from the International Data Corporation (IDC), it was analyzed that Android smartphones priced BELOW $200 were a hot segment in 2011 in China and these LOW-COST SMARTPHONES were also predicted to remain KEY DRIVERS for smartphone growth. Great news for Nokia, since it recently brought Lumia 610 on the market which is priced under $200. IDC has also predicted that Windows Phone will be 2nd biggest OS right after Android by the year 2016

"iPad and iPhone "killers"?? Is that a joke?"
No. Why would that be a joke? Apples products are not THAT extraordinary devices. For starters, here are few points to check.

However, it did not tell anything about how good Nokia is or how bad Apple is. I'll cover this next.
"The highest quality tablet in the world?"
Yes? What, do you think it's Apple?
Well, let's do a tiny comparison between Apple's and Nokia's hardware/software so far.
- iPhone 4S stops working below 0C, has reportedly been not only turn off but break down at -11C. Imagine this happening to your iPad.
- Lumia on the other hand survived -61C

- iPhone display glass breaks down, when you drop it from the hight of waist, e.g. jeans pocket (mine did excactly this)
- You can use Lumia display glass as hammer

- Apple iPad 3 has outdated Retina display technology, which lead to use of double amount of background leds which lead to bigger battery, which both lead together with better processor to overheating issues. A Tablet which you cannot hold in hand because its too hot?
- Lumia on the otherhand has clearblack screen which enables user to look at the screen without even adjusting brightness in sunlight with cost of battery consumption

Anyway, even if your warranty is not expired, Apple is not willing to give your money back in these three clear situations of FAULTY PRODUCT. What is Federal Trade Comission doing to fix this?
Not everything in Apple's hardware is bad though, since it's using some Nokia's technology in their devices after all. This is why they are also paying royalties to Nokia (on estimate $1-$5 billion a year).

How about software?
I like the usability in iOs. But, even Apple's Co-Founder Steve Wozniak says "I'm kind of shocked...iOS is more awkward in its interactions than the Lumia phone". If you check out comparisons between consumer preview Windows 8 tablet and iPad 2, the latter one does seem outdated. It's useless to compare Windows 8 and "the New iPad", since.. well, it has practically nothing new, except LTE and lots of new hardware bugs not seen on previous versions (wifi, overheating, other batteryproblems etc).

iOs has also big security vulnerabilities. CEO of Kaspersky Lab has said Apple is 10 years behind Microsoft in Security Issues (and on the other hand it's said that Windows 8 ARM powered tablets will be virus free). What is important here, is the fact, that Apple is not too keen to fix these issues, even if they know they exist. This kind of reckless indifference should also be investigated by Federal Trade Commission.

How about features?
Apple's camera? Average. Nokia is the world leader in Mobile imaging technology and it's latest Pureview technology is going to be on Windows 8 Phones / Tablets as well. Verge commented Nokia's technology as follows: "image quality is so far ahead of the competition that it really has no competition".

http://bit.ly/LWo0fJ
How about sound? Well, Nokia is working together with Dolby Digital to bring Dolby Digital Plus to it's mobile devices. What is Apple doing?
http://nokia.ly/KqDjJL
How about NFC? Rumors tell iPhone 5 MIGHT have it. Latest Lumias have it already.

http://nokia.ly/LWnXRa
etc etc etc.
Now, if you want an overpriced and overhyped device, which will overheat, will break down during winter or when dropped, which has full of security flaws, which vendor in fact is not even interested in fixing, choose Apple. I would buy iPad as good looking easy-to-user a toy, not for serious business, it is simply too low quality for that.
But if you just put the best OS (Windows 8) and the best hardware (Nokia) together, you'll get the highest quality tablet in the world, right? Awesome. And worth waiting for.
"You mean the tablet that doesn't actually exist but only in the mind of an underwater Nokia investor??"
It does also exist in the minds of
- Nokia's former Chairman of the board Jorma Ollila
- Nokia's Design Lead Marko Ahtisaari
- Head of Nokia France Paul Amsellem

Not to mention the government of Turkey, which invited Nokia's Vice President Esko Aho to discuss about the USD 8 billion tablet deal. Rumours huh?

"I've been hearing you Nokia fraudster-hypesters claim "just wait until next quarter" and "this is the bottom" for so long that I feel you guys should be good friends with Madoff."
Fraudster? The only overhyped company here is Apple, which is a fraudster as well, since it won't pay the money back to consumers even if it is selling faulty devices.
Anyway, do you think that transition to a new technology will happen over night?
"If Nokia can't even produce a date for releasing these so-called "iPad and iPhone killers" then I doubt they can produce the product itself."
With this logic, you can doubt if iPhone 5 will ever be produced as well, since Apple has not released any accurate dates either, there are only rumours. If Apple are wise enough, and I think they are (because it is related to money), they will release iPhone 5 just about the same time as Nokia's new products, to create some hassle (And this is why Nokia does not want to give too accurate information ). It would not be too wise not to be afraid of Windows 8 and Nokia.
You did not reply to yet, have you ever worked in software/hardware industry yourself?
"I hope the people you guys have suckered into losing their money in Nokia haven't lost too much of their children's college fund or their own retirement money."
Eh.. what? When reading your text, correct me if I'm wrong, but it gives me impression, that you only open your mouth when you defend your own investments, right? So how much have you invested on Apple?
Now who would be that stupid that spent their children's money? Invest when you can afford it. Don't take loan or money who belongs to others.
By the way, college is free in Finland. As well as studying bachelor's, and master level degrees. Actually government pays students for studying. That's why we have Nokia.
Why would they announce an exact date? Have you ever even worked in software/hardware industry? If you were, you would probably know how difficult it is to find and resolve a bug especially among the latest technology?
You are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT! . I have been in this field for over 35 years and it is extremely difficult to resolve issues. Also to rush out a product out of the barn before it is ready is a disaster.
Everyone needs to be patient, as hard as it is for me as well.
By the way, I am an IT Systems Programmer for a very long time. Started in the 70's and experienced a hell of a lot product deliveries in my time.
I've worked for many software companies in my earlier years selling software that was not ready to go from Beta testing.
NOK, can ill-afford to do the same in their position. They have no choice than to ensure their products stability prior to releasing them.
