The firm expects the deal, which will decrease Dell's cash balance by $2.4B, will be accretive to 2013 EPS by $0.04-$0.07. BMO also likes the deal, but has concerns about Quest's slow license revenue growth. Software chief John Swainson (previous) says Quest will be "the cornerstone" of Dell's software ops. Dell, hungry to lessen its PC dependence, has made a string of software acquisitions (I, II, III).
