Market recap: Already lower following more slowing news out of China and earnings warnings from the tech sector, stocks took a mid-afternoon hit when Cummins cut its 2012 outlook. The 10-year Treasury yield fell below 1.50% again, and oil took a beating. The airline sector is the subject of merger speculation and troubles continue at J.C. Penney.

  • Well said. To those that disagree there's a PPT, consider: (1) it's not illegal to pump the market, and indeed part of their charter, (2) they will not tell you they are trading--it's a breach of confidentiality, (3) Ponzi schemes take a long time before they collapse, look at the original Ponzi scheme, Madoff funds, and come to think of it, fiat money, the US income tax, and Social Security!

  • Social Security is genuinely a Ponzi scheme under the strictest of definitions. It is NOT an entitlement - it's money folks set aside for their retirement. It was supposed to go into a trust fund, and it did for a while, then the government stole it.

I'm pissed off. Why aren't we up in arms??!!!

  • Because there isn't anyone in power (Reps or Dems) that really gives a sh_t. Politics is all about getting power, keeping power and protecting your turf. Pure and simple. Remember this - if voting actually mattered, the powers that be would have taken it away from us long ago.

Complain all you want, but nothing will ever really change. In fact, I'm convinced it will get much worse. The populous wants easy answers to tough questions and refuses to accept the fact that in order for things to align fiscally, hard choices have to be made and that means sacrafices by EVERY wage group. Rich and poor. Try getting elected offering that up as your platform. People always end up getting the type of government they deserve. LOL
