It was recently reported Qualcomm will also turn to UMC and Samsung to address its 28nm chip needs: the failure of historical foundry partner TSMC (TSM) to provide adequate 28nm supplies affected Qualcomm's June quarter chip guidance, and has reportedly cost it some business with smartphone OEMs.
