Friday, July 20, 2012, 4:31 PM ETWeather reports now show extreme heat and drought conditions are going to continue to bake already scorched corn and soybean crops in America's heartland at least through early August. An atmospheric high-pressure ridge has mounted over most of the heartland, which is preventing moisture from moving into the crop belt. This has led to a buildup of heat to record highs and is exacerbating already devastating crop losses.
