  • This will get shot down by "National Security" concerns. Initiating massive short position at 9:30 A.M. est. time.

Surely the Canadians must know the imperialist intentions of the Chinese.

  • With respect, please do not politicize equity markets. Know your history, get it straight: such as U.S. and other 7 countries turning China into Columbia?? Opium???

If your government care for all its people, would they help the Bankers, and all those manipulating Financial Institutions? JPM?? AIG??? Lehman ros???? I am more pissed off then you, I trusted the American government, and to find out that it only protect the rich and powerful, not protecting its people.

  • I think this time, it will be approved by Ottawa. You should cover your short position. It was not like last time for SU. Canada needs this deal to be more independent from US. Canada wants to benifit from China's growth like Australia.

As a Canadian, I vote for whomever can build a strong relationship with China.

  • This deal will definitely go through. Nexen is not a huge part of the Canadian oil and gas landscape so there will be little, if any, opposition to the deal. The Canadian government is anxious to do business with China and other Asian countries who have shown a willingness to pay more for Canadian natural resources than what Americans are willing to pay.

  • Obama is a fool, to not build Keystone XL, and let Canadian oil go to China instead.

  • Can someone please explain to me how the US can get involved to try and stop a Canadian Co from being acquired by CNOOC?
Perhaps the Obama admin views Canada as part of the 57 states that form the US???
