Microsoft (MSFT) strikes a patent cross-licensing deal with Amdocs (DOX) that results in payments being sent Microsoft's way. Interestingly, the deal partly covers Amdocs' use of Linux servers in its data servers - if merely using the open-source OS is deemed to violate Microsoft's IP, there's no shortage of companies Microsoft could target. Like others, Microsoft is now trying harder to monetize its IP. Its lucrative Android licensing deals serve as proof.
