Like a May NYT scoop, Bloomberg claims Facebook will use a modified OS (likely Android), and has hired ex-iPhone engineers. Not everyone is a fan of Facebook entering the smartphone market. Among Facebook's possible motivations: it wants to promote its app platform; it's worried about ad monetization; and it's worried its apps simply can't dominate mobile activity the way its site dominates PC Web activity for so many.
