Oracle (ORCL) continues its habit of following the lead of rivals in buying startups in hot markets (I, II). Its latest target is Xsigo, developer of hardware/software solutions for managing data center infrastructures. Like rival Nicira, which VMware (VMW) just bought for $1.26B, Xsigo is an avid supporter of software-defined networking (SDN). The startup counts British Telecom, Verizon, and eBay among its customers. (PR)
