    Chevron's (CVX +0.3%) response to the fire at its massive Richmond refinery is criticized by residents puzzled at how a small leak quickly burst into a conflagration that sent hundreds of sick people to hospitals. While CVX won't comment on the impact the shutdown might have on the gasoline market, analysts say West Coast pump prices will soon pass $4/gallon. TSO +3.9%.

    In today's litigious society, it doesn't surprise me at all that "hundreds" of people went to the hospital. This is just not an accurate metric for actual impact.
    How many were actually injured is an entirely different question, one that will be hidden by the lawyers representing these people.

    Well until you have access to the real people and medical records after they have been examined by doctors. YOU have no data to support your allegations. Sounds like you against Americans exercising their legal rights to redress of grievance. So inspect your motive and thoughts does it agree with our laws and legal rights?

    The Richmond refinery has been there for 110 years. Repeated attempts to upgrade the facilities have met with political stalling. Many of the "hundreds" are just seeking compensation or in ghetto speak: "free s - -t". It's not like anyone living in proximity to the plant was not aware of it before they moved there.

    I have worked or been around Chevron for 31 years. I have watched Chevron from the time it was medium sized. Then it was all about being the white knight, safety, responsibility, honesty. But now all those words have different meanings to Chevron in my estimation. Now its MONEY only and playing nice with the world organizations. Immorality was not desired in the past. Now Chevron openly welcomes sodomites into the work place, requiring in effect the normal people to accept this SHAME and comply with it under threat. Of course nothing is really said you have just been informed of the situation. WHY??? It really doesn't help your business function, but it does help you function in a world gone mad.
