RIM's (RIM) plan to offload NewBay, which it bought for $100M in October 2011, is part of a strategic review in which the company intends to sell other non-core assets as well, Reuters reports. NewBay stores media such as photos and videos on its servers and sends them to Internet-connected devices; RIM bought the firm as a part of an attempt to increase revenue by persuading carriers to use its services for messaging, content delivery and analytics on all smartphones.

  • There has been an upward trend frim RIMM as a result of its reorchestration... I am buying RIMM Oct $10 calls @ .58 whereas just a month ago I cashed out on RIMM Jul $ 9 puts for 386%... I expect the reversal to prove to be just as profitable!
