Yahoo (YHOO) CEO Marissa Mayer has opened a Flickr account and has reportedly doubled the size of the engineering team working on the struggling photo-sharing site. Once one of Yahoo's most valuable properties, Flickr has been left in the dust by Facebook, Instagram, and others thanks to years of mismanagement and neglect. Improving Yahoo's product development efforts - widely seen as sub-par within the industry - is one of Mayer's top priorities.

  • Their email was pathetic a decade ago; it messed up my login and so I went to Google mail. They wanted to charge for POP to populate Outlook, recall that one? Gmail was free to populate outlook, from the very beginning. Little things like that made Yahoo not so good.

  • She can improve things by firing the political censors that delete hundreds of posts a day and post left wing propaganda like communists. yahoo "news" is a joke

  • For $140M shareholders ought to demand more than a resurrection of an aging, me-too photo/media sharing site. Maybe YHOO ought to take the name of the company that created Flickr (Ludicorp).....

  • It's about time. Flickr is amazing. Try it out. Run 'light box' - very nice and makes pinterest look limited. She should look at somehow making flickr work alongside its other properties..or at least build the "social" in the site to compete with the social sites.
