    More on Apple's set-top box hopes: "People briefed on Apple's plans" now tell the WSJ Apple wants to give users of its box the ability to watch TV shows any time they want through a cloud-based DVR service that would automatically store every show. This feature would require new content licensing deals with Hollywood. Also, Apple's box might feature an iPad-like user interface and (unsurprisingly) social media capabilities.

    Not new, but when it comes from Apple it might really catch on, especially if the interface is really well done.

    I'm always skeptical when I read reports based on information from "People briefed on Apple's plans".

    This seems to makes sense. I just don't see Apple making a "TV" but controlling the TVs that others make. I could see Apple buying Nest as part of the same model that Apple TV uses. In the case of Nest your phone controls the thermostat but Apple won't make air conditioners and heaters like they won't make TVs. Ditto a device for cars manufacturers and ditto a device for home security.

    What is a TV, but a giant screen. Just like a computer screen, iPad screen, or iPhone screen.. It's a bigger universe for Apple's Engineer's to play in... In my humble opinion, Apple will definitely make a TV. And when they do it will revelotionize another set of industries... TV Manufacturing, Cable TV, Hollywood Movies, and most importantly social media... Social media will become family entertainment, since it's on a TV screen to be shared by the family, vs a laptop, or mobile device which is personal.

    It's not about the TV, it's about the content and the user experience - all tied to the Apple ecosystem. TV's have too low a margin for Apple - and as an investor I don't want them to "make TV's", rather making money off the content is awesome.
