Friday, August 17, 2012, 5:15 PM ETOutput from the world's largest copper mine, Chile's Escondida, jumped 18% in H1 vs. the year-ago period, to ~533K metric tons on higher ore grades, mine activity and cathode output. But the result is a bit deceiving, as 2011 output was depressed at decade-low levels. Escondida, 70% owned by BHP and 30% by RIO, extracts ~7% of the world's copper.
