The poor quality of U.S. broadband could be hurting Netflix (NFLX). Though a recent FCC report claims 60% of U.S. households have broadband connections (defined as 768kbps or more), only 38% have connections of at least 3Mbps, the minimum level Netflix says is needed to provide DVD-quality video. Also, only 26% are estimated to have 6Mbps+ connections - Netflix claims 5Mbps is needed to provide HD video. Netflix provided disappointing Q3 domestic streaming subscriber guidance in July.
