    The United Steelworkers (USW) union will continue to negotiate with ArcelorMittal (MT) and U.S. Steel (X) after labor contracts expired at midnight last night. USW, which represents 26,000 workers at the companies, said that employees are continuing to work at ArcelorMittal, with neither a lockout or strike being declared.

  • gotta love the unions they never give up when all the world around them is crumbling. fire them all and see how that works. bet someone will work for less than $70.00 per hour.

  • They probably heard that their strike fund was given to the Democrats to support Obama so they had little choice. Always better to work even under such oppressive conditions than to be paid nothing to sit at home. I wonder how many of them know the condition of the US and International steel markets? If it gets much worse, they will have to worry more about getting laid off than getting a raise.

  • Nobody's looking for a raise, the sticking point is a 36% pay cut.

  • Not I, but the union should consider it carefully if they want to have jobs. Surely you know the market conditions for the steel industry in the US as well as the world.
