The news comes as Instagram announces 5B photos have been shared via its platform. All signs point to Facebook, which hosts over 140B photos, maintaining Instagram as a standalone service, but it will probably look for ways to integrate it with solutions such as Open Graph and its Camera app. Facebook might also bring mobile ads to the platform, which is revenue-free for now.
