    Amazon (AMZN) promises to create over 2K jobs in the U.K. over the next 2 years; 600 have already been created through a distribution center that opened up on Thursday. Amazon, which also says it will add 3K temp workers during the holiday season, might be trying to win some brownie points as it contends with an investigation into its paltry U.K. tax payments.     Amazon displaces local retailers with their distribution centers, so they destroy jobs in one area and create jobs in another. We would need to know the net effect before calling them a "job creator".
