Proposals floating around Congress would cut funding for food stamps as health advocates point out the program is a corporate subsidy to the nation's processed food giants.

And I believe the rules passed were intentional - they knew we wouldn't be able to spend the over 100K in renovations to meet the new requirements - (which were all BS by the way). So we have a large kitchen that holds church functions and cooks food for those functions - but the moment a poor hungry person comes in and we feed him/her or their children then its time to be fined! Ridiculous.
People in government wanted to close down as many food kitchens as possible to ensure they would have a larger role. Immoral and wrong IMO.
But there were two things I do remember.
One, was that you had to enter part of the sanctuary and then go down some stairs to reach the kitchen. We didn't have an elevator to get down to the kitchen....... thus we had to install one if the area would be open to the public AND we had to build an entrance that didn't require physical presence in the sanctuary on the way to the food!!!
Two, we had some very old cast iron stoves in the kitchen - I don't recall the make/model but they were from the 1930's or 40's. They were unbelievable stoves IMO - but they didn't meet some sort of requirement and we'd have to replace them if the public would be eating food cooked by the stoves.
There were others - the list was unbelievably long and the total cost to "fix" everything was over 100K - well over if I recall
And it certainly was "people in government" the very same folks that grow their empire by limiting the competition. After all if we aren't helping these folks then we'll need more government programs to help them. Its no conspiracy - its what is taking place all across the country.
So somehow the food was ok for folks like myself - member of the congregation. But god forbid we fed anyone that is actually going hungry.
Funny this blurb answers the question it poses in a nice concise way.
Perhaps KFT CEO, Tom Vernon, needs to be the featured speaker at the next RNC convention and let the tea party know how it really works in the corporate america world.
My simple reply to your comment is +1,and it was (is) a very ''gutsy'' post for SA!
