    Some European tech names are higher in early trading after rallying across the pond in the wake of a favorable German Constitutional Court ruling. NOK +2.5%. STM +4.9%. ALU +3.5%. ASMI +2.4%.

  • Yes, the German Court ruling helps but this company ismn't the same as its trailing data suggest.
    It's got the best manufacturing of the "position sensors" (my phrase) used by Apple & others; a novel high voltage chip that improves the efficiency of the inverters that convert low DC power to high voltage AC power in Solar Panels; chips for radar application for cars (eg"brake, you idiot"); and it has restructured its workforce.

    Some say, It's more expensive than TI or AMD. But it isn't making the same things.

    I don't regard its patents as a moat, but its technology for its products give it an advantage. Is this a significant advantage? How can I know, but an advantage it is.

    I now hold STM stock.
