    A growing number of coal-fired plants built to run almost constantly now may run only occasionally because of competition from gas-fired power plants that are cheaper to run. The trend of natural gas displacing coal likely will continue as companies seek ways to cut operating costs, especially those selling power into deregulated markets in the Northeast, Midwest, California and Texas.

    72 year old retiree. I own small positions in AEP, NEE, EXC, I think EXC will come roaring back when the use of gas becomes more widespread and the price goes up.

    retired from genon, with all the coal we have in the USA we need to find a clean way to burn it. goverment helped out the car industry why not the electric industry.
