    As was rumored, iPhone 5 pre-orders begin on Sep. 14, and shipments start on Sep. 21. That should let Apple (AAPL +0.5%) record a healthy amount of FQ4 sales. Subsidized U.S. prices for iPhone 5 models are in-line with those for the iPhone 4S. The iPhone 3GS is being discontinued, and the iPhone 4 is now free with a 2-year contract. iOS 6 will arrive on Sep. 19, replete with new mapping software and a revamped iTunes/App Store.     Biggest announcement that probably won't be discussed much:

    FREE iphone 4 with 2-year contract.

    I predict that appl increases their smartphone marketshare, with the FREE iPhone 4 being at least as big a reason as the new iPhone 5.

    Little premature but I believe for those that use iPhone for web access will love not only larger size screen but the incredible speed that should be experienced in most areas that support higher speed access. Also, not sure if they will continue to make 4s but it i do not see anything to be concerned about clearing out inventory. Only 8g is free for those customers that have an expired plan (still subsidised). Not a bad deal for aapl, in my opinion.
