Wednesday, September 12, 2012, 6:56 PM ETEvery iPhone 5 unit may look the same, but Apple (AAPL) is actually producing 3 different models, so as to address the 7 4G LTE frequency bands being used globally. AT&T will sell a North American GSM model, Verizon and Sprint will sell a CDMA model, and foreign carriers will sell an international GSM model. Selling different models should lower Apple's component costs a bit, and is a slight negative for top RF component supplier Skyworks (SWKS -1.4%). (more on iPhone 5)

The quality of the device is truly impressive, however, the features (while also impressive) have incremental gains that I doubt will make many people want to upgrade when compared to the gains in the 4S from the 4. Personally, I'll keep my 4S (it's awesome) - perhaps the 5S will sell me.
Think about it, maybe that is the marketing genius by having an asynchronous upgrade cycle while $AAPL continues to pry open new carriers like China Mobile
@spybreaker $AAPL has a high trade-in value. That is how the Japanese used to market their cars. Things may have changed a bit these days but other than quality issues, people used to prefer them to American ones because of the trade-in values. A lot of time, kids prefer hand-me-down iPhone to a RIMM or Nokia. So parents figure they get their money worth
But my handful of $APPL shares paid for this new toy ten times over since Wednesday, so I love people like me, too. Let the good times roll!
