    Barnes & Noble's (BKS +6%) Nook HD tablets make Amazon's (AMZN -1.1%) Kindle Fire HD look like "a dud," thinks Steve Kovach after trying out B&N's hardware. B&N's tablets contain better displays, Kovach argues, and the Nook's OS (a modified version of Android) now provides a "much cleaner look" than before. The first reviews for the Fire HD weren't too kind either.

    This will likely be the iPad mini killer. Likely to give the Nexus a real challenge, too. Very nice screen and unlike the Nexus, it allows one to add up to 32 GB external flash. Good battery life also.
